Steven (Steve) Brown was born and raised in Northwest Louisiana where he attended public school and graduated from Southwood High School. His educational accomplishments include a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston, course studies at Louisiana Tech and LSU Shreveport, and continuing education courses in business, management, public relations, and engineering.
Mr. Brown’s working career spans more than thirty (30) years and includes owning several businesses in the fields of engineering, architectural-engineering, residential contracting, commercial contracting, and golf course management. He is currently licensed to practice civil and environmental engineering in the State of Louisiana.
Steve has served on numerous community and professional boards and committees including the Broadmoor YMCA Youth Activities Committee, National Society of Professional Engineers Executive Committee (PEPP Chair), City of Shreveport Building Board of Appeals, Shreveport Chamber of Commerce (VP of Government Relations; VP of Small Minority, and Women Owned Businesses), Governor’s DOTD Secretary Selection Committee, and Louisiana Engineering Society Executive Committee (President). Steve also served in the Louisiana Army National Guard.
Mr. Brown has served as the Parish Administrator and Engineer for DeSoto Parish since 2009. Under his direction the Parish has completed $50 million in road improvements, opened an Animal and Mosquito Control Facility, completed extensive improvements to the C.E. “Rusty” Williams Airport, opened new cells at the Parish owned and operated Mundy Landfill, renovated and built more than a dozen waste collection sites, opened the new Alumni Park and made extensive improvements at other Parish parks.
